Christine Evans achieved a B.A. in Embroidery at Manchester School of Art in 2007. Despite living and working in Chester, a lot of her inspiration derives from the stunning North Wales, Scottish Highlands and Cornish landscape.

Her works have a huge sense of place, where the landscape meets the ocean, but depicting rich evocations of atmosphere in the light and feeling of a space, more than literal depictions.

Christine works mainly in acrylic and graphite, creating smooth, layered surfaces accented by vibrant sweeps that allow the mood and memory of a subject to emerge naturally. Her work encapsulates the ‘less is more’ theory, allowing the viewer to infuse their own emotion into each piece, making each work personal to the observer.

Her camper van and awning become her studio as she travels, trail runs and open-water swims, often with Ruby her Labrador, whilst embracing the elements around her. Each finished piece expressing that powerful sense of joy, movement and aliveness drawn from these pastimes.

We’re delighted Christine won the first Harbour Gallery Award in 2025 and are excited to show her first collection here.
