Harbour View
My mother always quoted “What is this world if full of cares we have no time to stand and stare”. Looking out across Portscatho Harbour, there are endless distractions – the activities on Porthcurnick Beach, the flag blowing in the breeze on the Coastguards lookout. Calne Beach in the long distance, and Nare Head, nudging Gull Rock out across the horizon. But in focusing on the far distance, sometimes we might miss out on the detail. Draw back your depth of field and beauty can be right in front of you! I love the way these sea pinks fringed the harbour view.
This tryptic has been printed using the cyanotype process, one of the earliest forms of photographic imaging using sunlight to make a print. It seemed an appropriate medium for this timeless view.
